# How to Fussy Cut a Block

I found this marvelous Halloween fabric, but couldn’t decide how to use it! I finally decided to pick out some cute motifs and put them in the center of a block.

Here is the fabric I had. The motifs seemed to lend themselves to a 4-1/2″ block, so I got out my [Cute Cut Fussy Cut](https://amzn.to/40iRKz7) rulers and traced around that ruler on the back of the fabric.

Then I cut out all the little motifs.

I decided I was going to put the design inside a snowball block, so I cut (4) 2″ squares for each corner of the fussy-cut block. I drew a diagonal line on the back of each of the squares, then sewed on the line and flipped it up to make sure the block was still 4-1/2″. It was, so I trimmed the block so it had a 1/4″ seam. That’s the block on the left below.

Here I am, double checking to make sure that the block is square. I had a tiny bit of trimming to do.

Once that was done, I put it in the center of a Sunflower Block. Here is the final product!
