# How to Make a Split HST (or 3-part QST)

## making the blocks

**Assemble:**

- (1) 4″ HSTs
- (1) 4″ Peach squares

Match a 4″ HST block with a Peach 4″ square, right sides together.

Draw a diagonal line on the back the HST, bisecting the seam. Sew 1/4″ away from each side of that line. Cut on the line and *press the seam open.*

Note that the two Split HST blocks will be mirror images of each other.

Sew these two together to make a Crocus block, as used in the [Key West pattern](https://phoebemoon.com/quilt-patterns/key-west-quilt-pattern/), or use it in a Chain Link block.
